Studia intaglio e scultura al Massachusetts College of Art di Brookline e nel 1970 realizza il primo film animato "The Ustrich" e il suo primo film animato tridimensionale "The Flowering Friendship of Seymour the Serpent", per il quale riceve il premio "Bronze Drewnoscope for Student Films" al Festival Internazionale di Film Animati di N.Y. Conseguita la laurea in Arte presso la Rhode Island School of Design di Providence nel 1975, grazie al "R.I.S.D.'s European Honors Program", fa pratica presso lo scultore Antonio Berti a Sesto Fiorentino, poi nella Fonderia Marinelli e infine a Ortisei da Albert Moroder dove impara a scolpire il legno. Quindi studia cinematografia alla School of the Museum of Fine Arts di Boston (1977) e realizza il film animato "Dead End" con il quale ottiene "20 premi internazionali" e una "borsa di studio" dalla Massachussets Arts and Humanities Foundation, con cui viene a Pietrasanta per specializzarsi nella lavorazione del marmo presso il Laboratorio Cav. Ferdinando Palla.
Va a Zagabria come ospite del terzo Festival of World Animation, dove "Dead End" entra tra i finalisti. Grazie ad altre due "borse di studio", rimane in Versilia fino al 1984 realizzando anche opere in bronzo presso la Fonderia Mariani e stampe allo Studio Il Malbacco.
é membro di alcune associazioni artistiche fra cui The International Sculpture Centre e la Massachussets Cultural Alliance.
Di nuovo negli Stati Uniti, consegue un Master in Scultura e Stampa (1989) ed uno in Letteratura Italiana (1990) presso l'Università del Wisconsin a Madison, dove dal 1987 insegna Italiano e Disegno. Dal 1991 al 2000 è Assistente e poi Professore Associato in Arte alla Utah State University di Logan. é anche Professore Associato al Maine College of Art di Portland, ME (2000), al Wellesley College, MA (2003) e presso l'Università di Barcellona (dal 2005). Ha vinto una commissione per una scultura pubblica a Salt Lake City (1993) e svariate "borse di studio": The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (1978-1979,1979-1980); Wisconsin Arts Board Inter-Arts Development Grant (1990); Helena Presents New Forms: Regional Initiative (1993); Utah State University, Faculty Research Grant(1994); Utah Arts Council, Individual Artist Grant(1996).
